“We don’t stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.”
— George Bernard Shaw
Hi, I’m Kathleen. I’ve been a registered childminder with the Care Inspectorate since 2007, and I live in Ladywell, Livingston with my husband and three children. We’ve been here since 2015 and love how close we are to the woods, parks, and good schools, there’s always something to explore.
Before childminding, I worked with adults with additional needs and as a playgroup assistant. I’ve got a degree in Psychology and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education, and I’ve always been fascinated by how people learn and grow. Becoming a childminder felt like a natural next step, it lets me combine that knowledge with what I’ve learned raising my own three.
I’ve completed an SVQ in Children and Young People, Forest Kindergarten training, and I keep my First Aid and Child Protection certificates up to date. I love learning new things and finding fresh ideas to bring into my setting, from outdoor adventures to creative play and early STEM activities.
My ethos is simple: children learn best when they feel safe, seen, and have the time and space to play. I work hard to create a warm, home-from-home environment where every child can explore, make friends, and build confidence at their own pace.
If you’d like to know more, have a look around the site or get in touch — I’m always happy to chat about what I do and how I can support your child’s early years.
