About Me

12670862_10153963891085452_3032776280617871787_nThat’s me with my own son on my back, we can often be seen pounding the paths of Ladywell like this, so please say hello if you see us!

I’ve been childminding for around 7 years, but have worked with children for much much longer. My CV is in the download area of the website but to give you a quick overview I have an undergraduate degree in psychology from St Andrews university and a postgraduate in Educational research.

I was also volunteer befriender at an Edinburgh guest house for adults and children with special needs. This involved working one-to-one with the children, helping them with personal care and taking the guests on outings around Edinburgh. This was a really intensive summer as it gave me a wide range of invaluable experience in a very short period of time. Working with the children is an incredibly rewarding experience, so if you require childcare for your child with additional needs, please give me a ring, and we can have a chat and if caring for your child would require me to undertake any additional training, I would be happy to undertake that.

I also grew up in a family that fosters chidlren from a variety of backgrounds, so I have a lifetime of experience with children with special needs. I know a number of Makaton and Signalong signs, and would be delighted to broadening myrange of signs.

I’ve been a Beaver Scout leader and an assistant Playgroup leader but the most reward I’ve experienced is from working as a childminder. It is only through childminding that you get to spend so much time one-on-one with a child, and you can provide a home away from home.
