You can’t mark the Chinese Year of the Dragon without making a dragon can you?

Doesn’t he look fantastic in our display, alongside all our other wonderful creations?

Happy Year of the Dragon!

We’ve had so much fun learning about Chinese New Year, what year were you born? We discovered that we were all born under the sign of the Monkey.

The Monkey is intelligent with a sense of humor, original thinker, practical, carries out plans successfully, curious, observant, friendly and introvert.  .”

We learned what our names look like in Cantonese characters.

They look brilliant all together in our display.

Come back tomorrow to discover what these cups are going to become!

My new motto.

Art Attack

Wednesday, January 11th, 2012

It was all back to normal on Monday – decorations down, toys tidied away, kids back to school. Keen to lift our spirits and inject some colour and energy into our lives in what is normally a rather dull and miserable month.

In that spirit, we started a small project looking at artists, and their works.

This week we were looking at Kandinsky, a Russian artist recognised as the first person to paint purely abstract works. The children were particularly taken with this piece.

Drawing on this, we started our own Kandinsky – inspired project.

Christmas Crafting
