Jupiter Wildlife Centre

Monday, July 18th, 2011

Okay, how did I live in Bo’ness for 8 years and not know this little gem was on my door step? Just a short bus ride, and a wee walk from here is Jupiter Wildlife Centre which we visited today.

We went pond-dipping, and for a lovely walk around the wildlife centre, exploring the sensory garden and the woodland wilderness. There’s still loads for us to do including a scavenger hunt and a mini beast safari. I’m certain it won’t be long before we are back there!

Photos taken by my 7 year old son.

We are now on facebook!

Penpal Project

Friday, July 15th, 2011

Sadly letter writing seems to be a dying art, with people relying on facebook, email and texting to stay in touch. So in a single woman campaign to do something about this, I have arranged a penpal project for the kids. Today we wrote our first letter to one of our penpals (oh yes we have more than one!) the gorgeous son of a friend of mine in England.

Now, can someone warn the postman?

We went to the animal fair…

.. well okay, not quite. Edinburgh Zoo.

What a wonderful time we had! I had a great trip down memory lane when I visited the Living Links centre and saw many of my old lecturers listed as the researchers on staff there. Unfortunately the children didn’t want to listen to my stories.

We were so lucky with the weather, and had a wonderful time watching the must-see attraction – the penguin parade.

Today we were blessed with the weather as well, and we spent all day in the sunshine, splashing in the paddling pool. Unfortunately the weather is to take a turn for the worse next week but that won’t stop us – pass the wellies!

10 Pin Bowling, DIY style.

Saturday, July 2nd, 2011

I have a great board on Pinterest which is a collection of craft and activity ideas. Any user can post to it, so as well as my own discoveries, it is full of new ones from other people.

If you have a look you will see a few familiar creations on there.

One idea I got from there has taken a few days to complete, but our DIY skittles are finally ready.

They were made by squirting paint inside the bottles, leaving the caps of while they dry thenĀ gluing the caps back on. Genius! I can’t wait to play bowling with these next week.
